Well the California part of my adventures this year is over! I left Davis yesterday morning and drove to Salem, Oregon where I stayed the night before continuing on to Seattle. I had a great time visiting with my brother, Robin, and his friends in and around Davis. Last week, I mostly worked remotely from Robin’s apartment while he was off working in his lab at graduate school. In the evenings we toured various restaurants and bars and on Friday night I got to join him and his grad group in a “TGIF” event with pizza and beer. The next day (and after recovering from the night before) we went for another day hike this time near Lake Berryessa. It was quite a hike up Blue Ridge but the view was pretty incredible!
Sunday, we ventured out to Point Reyes National Park and enjoyed a hike out to the beach.
We had a great walk along the shoreline and even came across some HUGE whale bones. This is what might be a pelvis:
And I’m pretty sure this is a flipper bone:
We also found the baleen which was pretty interesting!
We had a great time exploring the beach as you can tell from this photo:
It was a great visit and a fantastic road trip! Fun end to the summer in the continental United States.
Man, I’ve gotta stop writing these when I’m about to go to bed…
